The Mishi May bridal experience

White Dress

The fully bespoke design process

Choosing to commission a bespoke couture wedding gown is an unhurried and rewarding collaboration that unites insight, passion and expertise.

Designing your vision to perfection calls on inspiration and input from a wide range of sources – through discussion, idea exploration, sketching and fabric samples, we get to know your style, personality and incorporate these elements with your unique wedding plans. It’s a collaboration from the very first steps of the creative journey to the final tweaks, before packaging your gown ready for your special day.

Bridal fittings

With the design for your wedding dress finalised, we take your measurements and use a dress-makers sample fabric, calico, to create a 3D map of your body which will factor in your natural posture and give us an accurate starting point. Next, the Mishi May team of skilled pattern cutters, fitters, seamstresses, embroiderers and finishers, working closely with your hands-on designer Molly Mishi May, begin applying the specialist expertise and loving care that will bring your couture wedding dress to life.

The next appointment will be the calico prototype fitting. Here we begin to define your dress’s shape with more precision, and if needed a second-stage prototype that finalises this before we cut the silk.

Next, we focus on the silk finishing and a thorough check of the finer details before you try the finished garment. This is typically around a month in advance of your big day, leaving ample time for any minor adjustments before collection or delivery.

“Molly made the dress of my dreams. And we dreamed big. The craftsmanship is impeccable, the dress felt like me, but in exquisite hand-made form.”

Bridal corsetry

Depending on the design, a Mishi May bridal gown can include structural features such as fitted bodices or soft corsets that gently shape the torso – or even a hidden boned corset that can reduce the waist by two inches or more without discomfort.

Bridal embellishment

This magical stage involves the beautiful bespoke embellishments that complete the unique artistry of your Mishi May wedding dress. This might be a fine French lace with hand-beaded detail, a scattering of crystals to the edge of a hem or veil, Mishi May's signature heavy embroidery, or an exquisite combination of several elements.

This is where your wedding dress takes that transformative leap from already stunning to seriously sublime, with meticulous hand-craftsmanship that secures the elegant masterpiece that’s uniquely you.
